Gone shows a mother’s ongoing struggle to find her son amidst a surreal tangle of lies, intimidation and cruelty. Aeryn Gillern, a 34-year-old gay American, was last seen in Vienna on October 29, 2007. Ever since, his determined mother, Katheryn Gilleran, an ex-police officer, has been trying to find the truth about what happened to him on that night. She encounters police intimidation, abuse, and homophobia. But as well as finding contradictions in the police statements and an aura of conspiracy, she ultimately discovers her own strength to keep fighting for her son.
