This devastating documentary about the industry and “culture” around breast cancer focuses on the increased involvement of corporations in fundraising campaigns and its impact on charities and research. From car manufacturers to fast food companies to professional sports leagues, corporations have wholeheartedly embraced the effort — but many of the fundraising campaigns have done more for the companies than for the cause. The undue emphasis on the search for a cure can skew what kind of research gets funded. Fuelled by informative, often chilling interviews with activists, patients, former patients and writers, this is a ferocious and infuriating exposé.
