This inspiring film about the transformative power of music examines the international influence of Venezuela’s tremendously successful El Sistema program. Founded 36 years ago by Maestro José Antonio Abreu, El Sistema was created to offer free music education and instruments to impoverished children so that passion for music and discipline could be positive forces in their lives. Focusing on similar programs in Canada (Ottawa’s Leading Note Foundation), Scotland and the US, we see how these programs geared towards underprivileged and at risk youth enrich the lives of vulnerable children and create an opportunity for widespread social change.
