I felt joy hearing the words, “It's a girl!” But in many parts of the world, these are shameful words of despair. Filmmaker Evan Grae Davis found that years of documenting poverty did not prepare him for exploring the depths of “gendercide”. How could husbands and mothers fail to protect girls who should be loved and safe at home? How could doctors participate in taking so many lives? How could elected officials ignore their own laws?
